I spent the last three days accidentally giving myself a chemical burn by mistaking handsoap for lotion. Now my face is fat, red, and wrinkled. It looks like I've been chain smoking and doing meth in Cancun.

Other than that, I spent the weekend in Massachusetts being trapped in snow. Went to Providence, RISD seems eerily quaint. It almost looks quieter than Sarasota.

The studio here in NYC has been good. Fairly settled in, done a number of drawings, working on one large drawing, and drew a couple of things on the wall. One being a chair

For Intro to Sculpture. We had to do a project with styrofoam.

I wanted to make a place for someone to be able to explore.

It only leaked a bit.....could have been A LOT worse.

Then after a hard week of making and (still) picking up, we all three decided to let loose and start our Tuesday Singing Tour at Apple Bees.

It was well received.

There are sparkling puddles of light moving anxiously around the table.

The luminescence on Sarah's face are blotches of excellence. Alive and unique, each pattern and shape forms what appears to be an unveiled moment of our lives.

This light twinkles and scatters its beams over every known surface. It dances and glistens on the skins of automobiles, on the divine fineness of a lizard's back. It gets caught in the planted tulips, the deep pools of children's eyes, the thick veins of a dangling leaf. It wraps around the sheen of metal. It collects at a point, in the corner of something sharp.

It finds a way to touch everything.

I grow warm, I begin to feel happy. So today while buying three small tubes of fluorescent paint, I noticed that I look like a total club kid.

This should have been apparent to me when two weeks ago I was asked if I " go clubbin' " by the guy who rang me up at a restaurant in Santa Barbara, as he noticed my beaded plastic bracelet I made at work with the kids.

I will soon be embarking on a largely horizontal, partly vertical, and then greatly diagonal Mission of Wandering Excellence with my two main comrades (the council of the triad).

I may be done looking for it. Though I do have quite a sentimental attachment to the feelings of my own uneasiness, stability is one tough bitch. She sometimes comes in uninvited, even against your own worst interest.

During those years I stood outside the universe and sought to understand it. I lived in my room as Anyone living Anywhere and read fundamental books and only for diversion took walks around the neighborhood and saw an occasional movie. Certainly it did not matter to me where I was when I read such a book as The Expanding Universe. The greatest success of this enterprise, which I call my vertical search, came one night when I sat in a hotel room in Birmingham and read a book called the Chemistry of life. When I finished it, it seemed to me that the main goals of my search were reached or were in principle reachable, whereupon I went out and saw a movie called It Happened One Night which was itself very good. A memorable night. The only difficulty was that though the universe had been disposed of, I myself was left over. There I lay in my hotel room with my search over yet still obliged to draw on breath and then the next. But now I have undertaken a different kind of search, a horizontal search. As a consequence, what takes place in my room is less important. What is important is what I shall find when I leave my room and wander in the neighborhood. Before, I wandered as a diversion. Now I wander seriously and sit and read as a diversion.
